Midas de-lidder™ tools are made of micrograin carbide, TiN (Tungsten Nitride) coated for smoother cutting and longer wear. They are tailor-made to match the cutting speeds and feed rate of our machines on our industry's materials.
Our original SB-8 is a 10 flute dual helix tool specially made for ramp milling in the Kovar® alloy commonly used in hybrid microelectronics. It's multiple flutes help prevent wirebond-breaking vibrations, and it has expanded relief grooves to help prevent surface scouring. The SB-8 and larger diameter SB-10 tools are the best fit for our DL-3, DL-4, and DL-4A machines.
Our fifth generation D5L and D5F machines have a new tool, the ASH08 "Asynchronous Helix™" designed to take advantage of their higher speed cutting systems. Vibration is controlled by variable spacing of the four larger, more durable cutting flutes.
Both tool designs can be provided in 8- and 10-millimeter diameters, and can be profiled ("T" shaped) to give clearance where applications require.
